a look at all the squares

I have many new squares I need to add to the blog. Will try to get to that in the next day or two. In the mean time, here is a glimpse at the whole thing. I cry everytime I read the cards. Thanks to you all!

I saw you posted TA on RQ... we have a 3/9 CA date. We'll be in Guangzhou the whole time were in China. I know there is a group getting together at Lucy's for dinner on the 5th or 6th. Hopefully we'll get to meet. I never signed up to post on RQ, I just quietly watched and celebrated with everyone. I can't wait to meet all the personalities when we get to China. I think there are going to be quite a few of us there at the same time! Were staying at the White Swan... how about you guys?

Are you going to use this blog for your travel blog or do you have another! We are waiting to travel for our daughter who is also in Guangxi. She will be 3 next week and is in Yulin. Where in Guangxi is your little sweetie?

100 Good Wishes Quilt

"To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. It is a custom to invite 100 people to contribute a single square patch of cloth. The 100 patches are sewn together into a quilt. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation."

We would like to remember all the love, blessings, and prayers you all have for her. We are inviting you to join us in this tradition by sending us two 8” x 8” squares of fabric (preferably cotton) along with a card on which you have written a “blessing” for our daughter. The card should be one-sided and have a small sample of the material attached, as it will be displayed in a scrapbook. The fabric can be something you purchase new or pieces cut from clothing or other item of significance. Cut both squares from the same fabric. The blessing can be a simple statement, a favorite poem, song lyric, Bible verse….something that speaks from your heart to our daughter. The reason we are asking for 2 squares of fabric is so that we can use one square in making the quilt and place the other in an album along side your wish. When she is old enough she will be able to match the fabric in the quilt to the fabric and blessing displayed in the album and read your message to her.
